Rahul Gandhi to focus on Artificial Intelligence in US as China announces to lead world by 2030

Congress vice- President Rahul Gandhi is in United States where he will "expand his thoughts about artificial intelligence" at the Silicon Valley.India desparately needs Artificial Intelligence to boost medical research and heavy industries. In India, kids are dying due to lack of oxygen available in government hospitals  and  India must start investing on AI so as to keep pace with the world.

Gandhi is on a  nearly two-week trip to the US with an address at the University of California, Berkeley,  on the subject 'India at 70 -- Reflections on the Path forward', where he will talk about contemporary India and the path forward for the world's largest democracy.

Gandhi, during his US visit, will meet and interact with academics, researchers and intelligentsia and discuss issues like emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, nano technology and bio-technology.

Race is on among the world 's major powers to become a leader  in artifical intelligence with Russian President Vladimir Putin reminding that whichever country leads in AI research will become the ruler of the world."Artifical Intelligence is the future not only for Russia , but for all humankind as future wars  would be fought by countries using drones,Putin said.

"When one  party's drones are destroying drones of another ,it will have no choice but to surrender," Putin said.

The development of artificial intelligence  has become a national security concern in recent years. China has been investing hugely in science and technology research with cutting edge technologies. China recently announced its ambition to become the global leader in AI research by 2030. Chinese Premier Xi Jinping had reportedly said: “Artificial intelligence will wipe out more than five million jobs in the world by 2020, requiring adherence to the principle ‘AI for the people, by the people’.” These statements are also in like with what Alibaba’s Jack Ma had noted. He said, “AI is not only a massive threat to jobs but could also spark World War III.” Even the world’s most famous cosmologist, Stephen Hawking recently said, “I’m not afraid of black holes. AI is another story.”

Meanwhile, on September 4,Tesla’s Elon Musk  tweeted that countries which grow their superiority in Artificial Intelligence will rule the world and the competition might lead to World War III. He said that Russia, China and more countries are the biggest contenders.

But U.S. President Donald Trump has reduced immensely the funding for basic science and technology research, harbouring fears that America may lag behind in  this sphere.

The impact of Artificial Intelligence will be on the warfare like drones, cyberweapons which can be used for survelience as well as for attacks. Addedly it will boost economies with enhancing heavy industry and medical research. But AI has its own disadvantages as it will turn manual jobs to automation of jobs. The World Bank report had said that 69 percent of jobs are under threat due to AI  and IT sector will be drastically hit specially the low-skilled force will go extinct.
