NSG: Pakistan exerts diplomatic influence as China opposes India's entry In Nuke Club

China is at the forefront to stop India's march into elite Nuke club NSG as Beijing argues that NSG members should be signatory to Non-prolification treaty (NPT) and for netry into Nuclear suppliers group all 48 nations consensus is needed .

Pakistan last month submitted  an application in Vienna  desirous of joining NSG club  but  US and Congress  were not in favour. Where as China, Pakistan's close ally, argued that if India can be exempted of NPT and can be made a member of NSG then Why can't Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif government in Pakistan is desperate to clinch NSG entry as civilian government influence may vanish as Pakistan army  and specially  Army chief Raheel Sharif has by- passed Nawaz Govt in handling country's security and nuclear weapons .
There have been many coups in Pakistan where military generals  have risen to seize power  such as in 1958 General Ayub Khan, 1977 General Zia-ul-Haq and in 1999 General Musharraf. Already shaken Pakistan premier Nawaz offered himself up for accountability on Panama papers disclosure .

So after India received support from Mexico , Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tasnim Aslam gave  briefing to diplomatic missions of the NSG countries in Islamabad and  elaborated reasons  of Why Pakistanshould becme a member of NSG : Pakistan's technical experience, capability and well-established commitment to non-proliferation and nuclear safety and security.

Besides this, Pakistan have asked support from Suth Korea, Russia, and New Zealand .
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi secured Washington's backing for New Delhi's bid for a membership. The support of Mexico and Switzerland is seen as important in the wake of China opposing India's NSG membership arguing that it was not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The NSG is a 48-nation club dedicated to curbing nuclear arms proliferation by controlling the export and re-transfer of materials that could foster nuclear weapons development.India, Pakistan, South Korea, Israel and South Sudan are non signatory to NPT.

During the NSG meeting on June 9-10 in the Austrian capital Vienna to discuss India’s application for membership ,consensus among all 48 membership countries  are needed. If China does not relent, there is no way that India can get membership to the grouping as  another meeting is scheduled in the South Korean capital Seoul on June 20
Pakistan expressed concerned over the growing strategic ties between India and the US and accused that Washington approaches Islamabad whenever it needs it and abandons it when it does not.
"Pakistan will convey its concerns to the US over the latest issues in the bilateral ties," Pakistan Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said
The NSG  is concerned with reducing nuclear proliferation by controlling the export and re-transfer of materials required for nuclear weapon development  and safeguarding  nuclear weapons and entry into the elite Nuke club signifies that India  will be able to procure more nuclear components .
