Narendra Modi to address rally in Bangalore

Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is set to address four lakh people in a mega rally in Bangalore on Sunday as BJP hopes to regain lost ground in South.

The purpose of  this biggest political event shows the desparate attempt by the party  to revive BJP in Karnataka and  bring the party back to power in the state. The BJP lost the Karnataka Assembly polls earlier this year and Congress came to power as BJP's  tenure( 2008-2013 )was marked with charges of corruption and political infighting.

Modi will arrive in Bangalore at 10 AM. He is expected to reach the Banglaore Palace grounds  by a helicopter by 11 AM. State BJP leaders say he will speak for an hour after 1 PM.

Narendra Modi has realised that winning the parliamentary elections requires sound strategy and organisational preparedness and he knows  that the party should  take advantage of a Karnataka, the one state considered a strong base of the BJP among southern states.

The south has always been a big challenge.  But Atal Bihari Vajpayee came closest to cracking the issue because he held  appeal for educated middle class non-Hindi speakers.

For the BJP the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Orissa are key states where it has to make substantive gains if it had to dislodge Congress and emerge victorious.

BS Yeddyurappa to merge with NDA ?

Huge posters can be seen  featuring former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and  Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, together.
Ahead of the karnataka assembly elections  Yeddyurappa floated his own political party Karnataka Janata Party .

But there are speculations that Yeddyurappa could merge his party with the BJP .Yeddyurappa has expressed willingness to support NDA  led by Modi.

Security and other arrangements for RALLY

Security has been tightened for the rally  and Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar is monitoring the security arrangements with the deployment of around 5,000 personnel.

Th BJP has also arranged for 10 special trains to bring people from across the state for the rally. Nearly 3.5 lakh people have registered for the rally online. The party has also charged Rs 10 per head for attending the rally. The collected money will be donated for the installation of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue in Gujarat, a fond project of  Modi.

Around six kitchens have been set up at the rally venue and each has a capacity of cooking for thousands of people. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to those attending the rally and dinner will also be given to those who have travelled from far-flung areas.
