US strike on Syria may turn into a full fledged war

Syrian crisis headed for a new flashpoint  with US reportedly planning military strikes against  Syrian strategic  targets that mainly include  airports, military bases and arms depots . These strikes statedly have a limited scope  lasting for few days in response  to  chemical weapons attacks
near Damascus allegedly  carried out by Bashar al Assad forces on 21st August.

These strikes have the potential of plunging the entire middle-east  in chaotic conditions . However in carrying out these strikes US President Obama will be bypassing the UN Security council’s authority that will constitutes a grave violation of international law.

The UN inspectors have however been provided access to the site of the chemical weapons attacks by Syria and their inspections and conclusion are yet in progress.

This course will also put the Western powers alongwith Sunni forces represented by Saudis and Qatar on a warpath with Russia,China and Iran that support the regime of Bashar al Assad.

US lawmakers however urge Obama  to exercise restraint lest the situation may go out of control. Obama is also against involving army boots in the conflict.
This has drawn strong condemnation from Russia,China and Iran.Russia has issued a strong warning against US planned military strikes stating “ strike on Syria can have “catastrophic consequence”  for the region adding that international  community should show  "prudence" over the crisis .Russian foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich further added

"Attempts to bypass the Security Council, once again to create artificial groundless excuses for a military intervention in the region are fraught with new suffering in Syria and catastrophic consequences for other countries of the Middle East and North Africa and they are calling on American partners and all members of the world community to demonstrate  prudence  and strict observance  of international law, especially the fundamental principles of the UN charter.

Iran on its part has blamed Israel for the conflict in Syria with an influential member of Parliament  Mansur Haqiqatpur saying that “In case of a U.S. military strike against Syria, the flames of outrage of the region's revolutionaries will point toward the Zionist regime”.

With US action in Afghanistan already turning out  to be an utter failure  in terms of quitting without providing stability  in the country, having created  conditions  that negate  the spring revolution in Egypt  and other countries  of Mid-East, Obama may be  only adding another chapter  to his sequence  of failures  and fallacies  that history may not allow the superpower to make amends later.

Time may have come to prove the prophetic utterance of Winston Churchill -----the wartime PM of England –that  World War will always  be fought over the Mid East.

It may also not be out of place to mention that US action in toppling various  regimes in fact result in creating conditions  for revival of AL Qaeda elements like in Libya,Egypt and Syria.

It appears that UK, France  and US are trying  to create  conditions for a world War so that their  sagging economies could revive with sales of arms.

For more than two years Sunni Islamists have been supplied  with arms  by the West countries funded  by Saudis and Qatar to effect a regime  change  in Syria  but having failed now alibi of chemical attack is being taken as an excuse for the strike. Syrian have denied  the same and UN inspectors are still conducting the inspection of site  clearly Obama’s action is one sided and may necessarily become the cause of catastrophic situation in Middle east and North Africa and engulf the region in World war like situation.
