Central Asia key to economic prosperity of entire region

After the break up  of the Soviet Union in the year 1990,the  region comprising  Central Asian Republics  was considered to have emerged as an area of great dimensions. Holding enormous deposits of energy resource ,it was supposed  to cater to political needs  of the world fastest
growing economies of China and India located in surrounding East and South Asia.

China was thus quick to set up roads in the Aksai Chin region to facilitate imports of energy and other raw materials  from the region.

In August ,2013,India and China held their first official dialogue on Central Asia focusing on their "very similar" approaches in the strategically important region on issues like counter-terrorism, regional and energy security. The two-day talk concluded yesterday and was "held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere marked by a high degree of candour," an Indian Embassy release said .

“Both the sides discussed the situation in Central Asia, focusing on the very similar Indian and Chinese approached to political and economic relationships with Central Asian countries,” a statement from the Indian Embassy said

Facing a political hurdle from Pakistan not allowing transit trade facilities (though  the transit trade facility would have immensely benefited  the country itself and would have even promoted  its security  and stability  concerns),India turned  to Iran in search of an alternative route to Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Development of sea port of Chabahar located near the Western border of Afghanistan  having historical  trade and commerce  ties between  the said countries was thus destined  to form a natural part of the process. India has also invested heavily in the development efforts in Afghanistan and also helped construct roads that  facilitated trade with Central Asian region.

Central Asian Region  located on the historical  old Silk Route with fastest emerging economies of China and India by its side  would have automatically revived  trade from Asia  to central Asia proceeding to Iran and other single  currency  Euro zone countries . Thus world have  helped alter the economic  landscape of Asia,European region  tp provide a counterweight to the mighty US economy.

Iran that has abundantly inherited cordial and healthy diplomatic relations  with the  countries of Central Asia  could brighten the aspects of amicable relations in the region after the US led  Nato forces leave the region after 2014 .

Currently normalization of Afghanistan after the withdrawal  of US forces by the end of  2014 is also at the centre of problematic  situation that squarely concerns the countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India with regard to  integration of moderate Talibans in Afghanistan and moderation of Tehreek-e- Taliban  (both of which are inimical to the existing states of both the countries  by virtue of their  fundamentalist an backward looking tendencies.)

This may have to  be tackled  constructively  to promote the joint interest of the area. This presents the real challenge  to the leadership of these countries  so that  globalization prospers  to the mutual advantage  of all the countries in the region.
