Putin says hasn't decided if he would run in 2018 election

In 17 years of his rule,President Vladimir Putin has enhanced Russia's influence in the regional and in the global spectrum but said that he has not decided on whether he would run for president again in 2018.

“I haven’t decided whether I’m going to run at all. Because by law I think the presidential election campaign will be officially announced at the end of November, beginning of December.," Putin said at the Russian Energy Week forum .

“No, I have not only not decided against whom I would run, I have not decided whether I would run at all,By that point, I believe that the main contenders will probably come out and state their intentions as well as their election programs," Putin stated.

In support of a multipolar world,Putin has strengthened greater economic and military cooperation with Asian countries.He brokered two huge deals to supply China with gas, one worth $400bn. (First he has to build a pipeline through 2,500 miles of mountains, swamps and seismic hotspots.

Russia and Syria have entered into an agreement in January 2017 to extend Russia's control of its facility for 49 years and give it sovereignty over the territory. It allows Russia to dredge, install floating berths, and carry out repair works to expand its capacity to 11 warships, including nuclear-powered ships

Putin criticized US President Donald Trump of coercive rhetoric against Pyongyang and attempts “to speak from a position of strength” only give more power to the North Korean leadership and stressed that the global military strike against North Korea to destroy its nuclear and missile program might not succeed, because no one knows, where the military facilities are hidden.

"Let us speak to the point, after all – Can a global strike against North Korea be launched to disarm it? Yes. Will it achieve its aim? We don’t know. Who knows what they have there and where. Nobody knows with 100 percent certainty as it’s a closed country,”Putin said while addressing the 2017 International Forum on Energy Efficiency on Wednesday.

"There is no 100 percent knowledge about North Korea's as it is a closed country,”Putin added.

Russia has provided North Korea with railroad technology.

Relations have strained at the end of Obama administration, over Russian aggression in Ukraine, and its military backing for Damascus in the Syrian civil war.With President Donald Trump in White House, the relations are still in a zig-zag manner.

Putin admitted that he once met United States President Donald Trump but said he has no personal ties with the U.S. leader and they had a couple of phone conversations on various issues of mutual interest, including Syria.

"I believe that a personality like Trump, with his character, will never be hostage to anyone,”Putin stated
“Regarding bilateral relations, you can judge for yourself. They have become hostage to the domestic political situation in the U.S. Certain forces are using Russian-American relations to address internal political issues. We are patiently waiting for this internal political process to end,”Putin said.
