Iran envoy Mehdi Nabizadeh explains ground reality of US- Iran nuclear standoff

On the 33rd anniversary of victory of  Islamic Revolution, Iranian ambassador to India Mehdi Nabizadeh, used this opportunity to show the ground reality of the recent US and Israel threat posed to Iran.

Referring to the two wars
led by US in the last decade, one in Afghanistan started on the pretext of eliminating extremists and Talibans and the other one in Iraq on  the pretext of destroying the weapons of mass destruction Iranian Envoy Mehdi Nabizadeh said  ,in Afghanistan US   is now preferring  to reconcile  with the Taliban while in Iraq no weapons of mass destruction was found by the US .

Likewise US was using Iran’s peaceful nuclear  programme as an excuse to launch war on Iran stating it was meant for nuclear weapons .Now the US is spreading  false propaganda  that Iran wants to shut the strait of Hormouz which is a pivotal point in the oil route  .

Strait of Hormuz is  the  major route for about a fifth of the world’s oil trade,Iranian Envoy Mehdi Nabizadeh said “We don’t believe in closing the Strait of Hormouz and instead they want to build their bases on  Persian Gulf, that is why they are spreading such rumours .

In case they succeed in building their bases then supply through this  oil route can be disrupted .Drawing  similarities Nabizadeh said the revolutions in Tunisia , Egypt and Libya were also  against the expasionst powers  and present scenari can  be analysed  similarly.

Commenting on the Iran’s approach to amicably settle nuclear standoff,Envoy said "We believe no country should have atomic weapons and every country should follow nuclear disarmament."

Also underlining  the importance of Indo-Iranian relations,he said that US cannot harm Indo-Iran ties and  India has set up an alternative  mechanism for payments to Iran  ie to pay for as much as 45 percent of its crude imports from  Iran in rupees saying “Indian oil importers are keen to use this method for paying Iran as they believe the channel of payment through a Turkish bank may be blocked due to sanctions”.

It is to be seen how the future unfolds  as US  presidential elections are approaching  and Iran’s parliamentary elections  is on March 2 nd this year and Presidential elections is on  2013 .It is always perceived that usually elections mark change in policiey goals of every country and further the policies also alter  with the change in regional and global situations.
