Fedup with the weak presence of BJP in the Upper House and washout of the previous parliament sessions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi oficially designated Subramanian Swamy to attack Congress and the Gandhi family on Agustawestland defence deal to keep the opposition busy.
After almost two years of Modi government what we see a Parliament turned into a warzone where the ruling party NDA is attacking opposition on old issues and asking the report card of UPA. It seems NDA , which remained in opposition much of the time has forgotten the responsibility and work inside Parliament as instead of showcasing the policies , bills ;it is still in the attacking mode.
Well, PM Modi’s strategy is working or not will be known within days but he has adopted two-pronged strategy. First, he will remain silent on all issues as the task has been given to motor-mouth Swamy — who has grabbed newspaper headlines for attacking Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi into the AgustaWestland helicopter bribery case and his remarks were also expunged from the records, and even referring to Constitution of another country was a baseless exercise.
Modi’s floor management strategy is proving to be a nuisance value to the parliament. It’s a futile exercise and a worse diversionary tactic so that Opposition might not raise the Uttarakhand issue,Pathankot terror attack etc .
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who is crazy enough to grab headlines, did some cheap talk when Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul appeared in court in connection with the National Herald case by saying that “I am happy that I brought them to court “.
Therefore, he is not just doing it to fight corruption but to fulfill his arrogance.
BJP has been misusing Article 356 to dismiss governments in Arunachal and Uttarakhand. BJP have time and again mocked the integrity of well-established institutions and created a disaster for Indian democracy.
The Supreme Court told centre that “Article 356 is a rare phenomenon… if a government is in minority, floor test has to happen as a natural corollary… ultimately, if we sustain the President’s Rule, then also floor test will have to happen.”
But the fact is no work is being done in the paliament and BJP will soon realise that Rajya Sabha MP is going to be a double-edged sword and may hurt NDA more.
The Congress dared the Modi government to reveal within two months the names of those who took kickbacks in the AgustaWestland deal. If the government has the guts, they should come out with the truth in two months, instead of issuing threats. Who has taken the money and how much? They should announce the names in the monsoon session of parliament,” Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad told.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, reasoned that leaders of the then United Progressive Alliance government won’t have ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the deal had they accepted bribes.
“If any UPA leader had taken kickbacks in the AgustaWestland deal, would they have ordered a CBI probe or initiated Enforcement Directorate investigation? Would they have cancelled the deal? Would they have recovered the bank guarantee or the advance money? Would they have started the process of blacklisting the company?” Azad asked.
“If they are really sincere in the case, why aren’t they completing the investigations? They have all the investigating agencies under them,” he added.
Actually, Modi is trying to engage opposition through Swamy simultaneously to rebuilt image of Modi for the Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat assembly elections that are scheduled for early next year. BJP president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the state every month to discuss election-related strategies and to appeal to voters to bring BJP to power.
While it will be tough for BJP to project its chief ministerial candidate because of the factionalism and vote bank.
BJP AND PM MODI WILL HAVE TO PAY A HEAVY POLITICAL PRICE BY INDULGING IN RHETORIC. LIKE IN DELHI AND BIHAR ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS where the BJP LOST MISERABLY, NDA IS SET TO FACE DEFEAT IN 5 STATES IN 2016 AND IN 2017 UTTAR PRADESH AS WELL.
