Proactive judiciary accompanied by sustained societal movements and churning have ensured democracy taking roots in Pakistan that made possible smooth transition of power through democratic process .It may still ensure greater stability of elected governments in that country.
Otherwise Pakistan’s past history of 65 years is well replete with acts of seizing power unconstitutionally .
Strongly enough even before the start of Nawaz Sharif’s third term in power in Pakistan ,analysts including chiefs of fundamentalist organizations have started advising him one way or the other , about the potential pitfalls that lie ahead to disrupt his full tenure in view of pronouncements after his emphatic win at the polls. Hizbul chief Salahuddin has warned him against abandoning the cause of Kashmir while engaging in trade, culture and friendship to normalize relations with India.
He is also being advised to re-negotiate the internal balance of power arguing that near decimation of secular parties like PPP and ANP have brought into prominence conservative and Islamic political parties as well as fundamentalist organizations like Talibans and extremists militants that he may have to deal with priority basis.
.He is also being scared how army commanders and foreign office still dominate in the security matters of the country.More so when ISI , Army, Talibans and fundamentalists though existing and functioning separately are often found to hold firmly together in a bizarre manner as soon as civilian government assumes power.
The purpose of all such unsolicited advice appears to make him hesitant and falter on taking the call of the mandate at the most opportune and appropriate moment But Nawaz Sharif is no novice in politics.
He understands that rival political parties and even the militants are so much subdued to strike a robust blow at the economic mess to provide jobs and employment that emerges as his first priority.
Already his victory has registered gains in stock market. The next logical step is therefore just a procurement of IMF loan even with marginally higher costs that such a loan always entails .Alongside a timely US financial assistance may give an added drive to the economy.
Buying gas on priority basis from Iran-Pakistan pipeline or whatever other source can solve the power problem so direly needed for industrial revival.
Actively into politics since 90’s, Nawaz Sharif grip on country’s pressing need cannot be considered superficial. His handling of political matters with deep insight into all-round fallout in various directions/dimensions has not so far proved him wrong. He knows clearly the way out of the present mess of his country.
Pakistan also currently stands at the vertex of regional opportunities presenting automatically at this juncture .By taking along Afghanistan and India it can ensure unprecedented rise in the fortunes of this region and each of the three countries.
Nawaz has no other option but to take Pakistan fast out of the economic mess and into the regional scenario that promises a win- win situation domestically and regionally .
With NATO forces scheduled withdrawal by the end of 2014 ,a concerted effort by the three countries viz Pak,Afghanistan and India as the core group can give rise to permanent structure to look after their mutual interest including the Kashmiris .
It may also serve to check other from trying to fish in troubled waters
Pakistan ironically has so far been torn by intense power struggle by various players including the army and internal region in the fair name of the country itself, and there rises the tragedy of this country.
This can ensure economic revival of the region by integrating it with global economy and addedly ensure normalization of Pakistan-India and Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
Any lapse on the economic front in addition to adding to the economic woes of the common man and would provide unnecessary opportunities for the vanquished forces to raise their heads and spread chaos and confusion.
