Growing fears of a third Palestinian uprising?

Fearing of a third Palestinian intifada, or uprising, like in1987-93 and 2000-2005 after a wave of  stabbing attacks by Palestinians that has killed more than 30 people on both sides, Israel has set up checkpoints in occupied East Jerusalem and mobilised hundreds of soldiers to stop attacks.

Even Washington is consideirng sending  US Secretary of State John Kerry in Middle East to seek to calm tensions while
on the contrary Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas in a televised speech struck a defiant  note by  blaming Israel for committing "extrajudicial executions."

Israelis are living in fear  after the attacks  first started  on  Wednesday when a man, reportedly a 20-year-old from the West Bank city of Hebron, tried to stab a security guard at an entrance to the Old City but was shot dead before harming anyone.

Referring to the “execution” of an alleged Palestinian attacker in the Pisgat Zeev settlement of East Jerusalem, Abbas  reteriated that "Palestinian people has the right to defend ourselves against Israeli occupation" and "pursue our national struggle" who commit terror against our people, our homes, our trees, our holy places, and who execute our children in cold blood, as they did to the child Ahmed Mansara and other children in Jerusalem and other places."

"Peace and security will never be achieved unless there is an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital," Abbas said.

Responding to Abbas's address,Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his statements “incitement and lies.
Another significant factor is Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza  termed the ongoing attacks  an “intifada”  and called for  the strengthening and increasing of the intifada… Further added "It is the only path that will lead to liberation“Gaza will fulfill its role in the Jerusalem intifada and it is more than ready for confrontation."
Palestinians won’t allow Israelis to “desecrate” Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said referring to the tensions surrounding visits by Jews to the Temple Mount at the United Nations General Assembly.
